William Brandal Campbell

September 24, 1938 - April 30, 2026

Willard Brandal Campbell, of Clifford, rode his last ride on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Born on Thrashers Creek on September 24, 1938, he was a legend in his own right and built “Ford Tough”.

Willard made a name for himself as a farmer, an excavator, a family man, and a friend. Throughout his life he built more roads, fished more streams, rode his horse on more trails, and put hay up faster than any other.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jackie Campbell; parents Byron and Kathleen Campbell; brothers BH and Glyde Campbell; and sisters Glenna Price and Iris Mays.

Left to cherish the many memories and tell Willard’s tales are daughter Donna Gunnels and son-in-law Johnny Gunnels; daughter Shannon Belton and son-in-law Willie Belton; granddaughter Brandle Hunt, her husband Joe Hunt, and children Spyke & Jade Hunt; granddaughter Dayna Bryant, her husband Clarence Bryant, and children Waylon and Hollace Bryant; grandson Joe Hall, his wife Haley Hall, and children Cole, Berklee Hope, and Charley Joy; brother Jerry Campbell and wife Jan; sister Juanita Ondrick and husband Bobby; brother-in-law Malcolm Wayne Cash and wife Mary; and many nieces, nephews and other kin. Willard had a host of friends, too numerous to name, all who are included in the memories he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9 th , 2026, at 11 AM at “Frank’s Place” on Winton Road in Amherst. Willard will be interned with his wife at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on a later date.
