Douglas Morgan Shelton

Douglas Morgan Shelton, 86, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026. Douglas was born in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Helen Lewis Shelton and the late Edward Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Joan Johnson Shelton.

Douglas was of the Christian Faith, and was employeed at Blairs Construction for many years, previous to his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion.

Douglas is survived by three sons; Dan Morgan Shelton (Lesa) of Danville, VA, Edward Scott Shelton (Yvonne) of Gore, VA, and Jason Shelton of Blairs, VA; a daughter; Cheri Renee Adkins of Danville, VA; a brother; John Shelton; ten grandchildren; Melanie Thomson (Jack), Joseph Shelton, Bryan Adkins, Hannah Adkins, Jessica Ensell (Phillip), Krystal Grim (Trevor), Amanda Garcia, Scott Shelton (Kendra), Davis Shelton, and Victoria Shelton; and numerous great grand children, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Douglas was predeceased by a grandson; Daniel Shelton, a sister; Sarah Richards; and brother; Jimmy Shelton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff at Chatham Health and Rehab, during Douglas’s stay there, especially Maria, Treva, Craig, and Judy, as well as the wonderful staff at Heartland Hospice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 3:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3:00pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
