Linda Reeves Byrd

Linda Reeves Byrd, 80, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born in Grayson County, VA on February 5, 1946, to the late Myrtle Elizabeth Sawyers Reeves and the late William Ellis Reeves. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Raymond Eugene Byrd Sr.

Linda was a devout Christian and was a avid member of River Oak Church of God. She worked as a Cafeteria worker for Pittsylvania County Schools and for Dr. Albert Payne for over 20 years previous to her retirement. She was an avid walker and loved bird watching.

Linda is survived by a daughter; Anthea Byrd of Danville, VA; a son; Raymond E. Byrd Jr. and wife Michelle of Sanford, NC; a sister; Betty Jo Creed; a granddaughter; Hannah Brown (Hunter); two great grandchildren; Easton and Emerson Brown; and 2 close nieces; Kathryn Harrison and Phyllis Harrison as well as many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Linda was predeceased by one brother; David; and five sisters; Edna, Hallie, Barbara Ann, Burt, and Myra Jean.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA at a date to be determined soon.
