John Eggleston Cowlbeck

John Eggleston Cowlbeck was born and raised in Bedford, Virginia and passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at his residence. He followed his passion and love for the Blue Ridge Mountains and obtained a degree in Geophysics at Virginia Tech. As time and technology evolved, John became interested in data processing which led to establishing Business Systems Associates Incorporated.

After retirement, he continued to pursue his love for the outdoors and the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford Virginia. John was a creator. He loved to tinker, repair and build.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Cowlbeck; son, Tucker Cowlbeck (Julia); daughter, Cary Cowlbeck; stepdaughters, Kate Chivily (Nick), Beth Strycker (Mike); one granddaughter, Anne Cowlbeck and four step grandchildren.
