Max Wayne Gasser
Max Wayne Gasser, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at his residence in Evington.
Born in Laurel, Indiana on October 13, 1943, he was the son of the late John E. Gasser and Lottie Schunerman Gasser.
Max is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Bell Gasser; his son, Doug Gasser and wife, Bonnie; two stepchildren, Edward Cash and Melessa King and husband, Paul; two grandsons, Brock Gasser and Brandon Gasser and wife, Rachelle; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and his precious Bichon Frisé, Jax.
Max was a Transformer Assembler whose skill and dedication made him a legend throughout his industry. He began his career with Westinghouse before transferring to ABB in Florida. After relocating to Lynchburg, he continued his work at Delta Star, where he remained employed full-time at the age of 82. Max was known for his unmatched work ethic, rarely working less than a ten-hour day, and took immense pride in every job he performed.
Outside of work, Max enjoyed attending 4-H fairs, watching NASCAR, and cheering for his favorite driver, William Byron. He also loved classic car shows, especially showing off “his baby,” a beautifully restored 1956 Ford Sunliner.
Max was without question the number one fan of the Liberty Lady Flames basketball. He rarely missed a game and recently traveled to Hawaii to support the team in person. His enthusiasm and loyalty made him a familiar and beloved face among players and fellow fans alike.
Above all, Max was a man of strong faith and a faithful member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He loved his family deeply, worked tirelessly, and lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
A service celebrating his life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Tree of Life Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
