Andrew "Andy" Metro
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Andrew “Andy” Kenneth Metro, Sr. on May 8, 2026, at their home in Pearisburg, Virginia. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1939, to Andrew and Elizabeth Metro. Andy shared 66 loving years of marriage with his treasured wife, Anna (née Horton) Metro, and together they built a family that remained the center of his life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Barbara Hollie (husband, Norman), Andrew Metro (wife, Brenda), Robert Metro (wife, Darla), Mary Morgan (widow of Charlie Morgan), and Nicholas Metro (wife, Angela). His legacy lives on through his 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Andy is also lovingly remembered by his devoted brother, David Metro, widower of Janet Metro, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Andy was respected and admired for a lifetime of service to others, first through his military service and later during his 33 years on the D.C. Metropolitan and Virginia State Police forces. He was steadfast in his devotion to the Catholic faith and lived as an example of integrity, humility and devotion. He had a remarkable gift for all things mechanical; a talent reflected in his love of car and bus restoration. Traveling with Anna in their bus brought many happy adventures and lasting friendships.
All who were blessed to know Andy will remember his deep love for family, his strong sense of honor, his warm and fun spirit, and his unfailing kindness. Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pearisburg, Virginia in the next 3 or 4 Days.
