Crystal Dawn Coe
Crystal Dawn Coe, 45, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. She was born on November 13, 1980, in Henry County, Virginia, to Kathy Matherly Martinez. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Francis Wolfe and Lewhy Matherly, and stepson, Ethan Coe.
Crystal Coe was the kind of person who could light up a room the moment she walked in. She never met a stranger, and if you spent even a few minutes with her, you walked away feeling like you had known her forever. Her smile, her laughter, and her warm spirit made people feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved. She worked as a Customer Service Manager for Walmart, a job she truly loved because it gave her the chance to do what came naturally — connect with people. Customers and coworkers alike were drawn to her kindness, patience, and uplifting personality. Before Walmart, she worked at Clarence's Steakhouse, where she became one of the most requested waitresses. It wasn’t just because she was good at her job — it was because people loved being around her. Crystal had a way of making everyone feel special.
She loved life and believed in enjoying it fully. Whether she was planning a trip to Florida to visit her favorite Aunt, Ginger, heading to the gym, taking pictures of a good meal, or gathering the family together for a cookout during the holidays, Crystal found joy in the little things and made those moments memorable for everyone around her. She loved food, family, laughter, and making memories — and she captured so many of those memories through the countless pictures she took along the way. More than anything, Crystal loved her family and friends. She treasured time spent together, especially during holidays and celebrations, where her presence could always be felt through the laughter, conversations, and love she brought into every room. She was caring, genuine, and full of life — the kind of person people naturally gravitated toward.
She is survived by her mother, Kathy; father, Willard “Red” Via; stepdad, Max Martinez; brothers, James H. Mabe (Hydi) and Lewhy Via; stepsister, Teresa Campbell; nephews, Alan Polk, Brayden Mabe, Riley Via, and Chandler Via; and special cousin, Melissa Stone.
