Christine Bowles Maxey

June 21, 1932 - May 10, 2026

On May 10, 2026, Christine Maxey peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, faith, and love for her family touched many lives.

Christine retired after many years of dedicated service from General Electric, where she worked as an engraver. She was a longtime member of Sherwood Archery Club and, in her younger years, greatly enjoyed bow hunting. A faithful member of Craig Valley Baptist Church, Christine was deeply involved in the Backpack Ministry, faithfully serving alongside her sister and nieces to help provide weekend meals for children in need.

A phenomenal pianist, Christine found joy in music and sharing her talents with others. She loved cooking for her family, working crossword puzzles and games, tending her annual vegetable garden, and growing beautiful flowers. She treasured the mountain home she loved so dearly and enjoyed watching the wildlife around her. One of her greatest joys was cheering on her grandsons through the years as they competed in youth sports and varsity wrestling and football.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Maxey; her parents, Robert and Sallie Bowles; brothers, Russell Bowles and Raymond Bowles; and sisters, Rachel Wright and Kathleen Hawley.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Ann-Elyse and Chris Blomberg; grandsons, Aaron Blomberg and wife Stefanie, and Adam Blomberg and wife Terri; great-grandchildren, Finn Blomberg and Chloe Blomberg; sister, Elizabeth Feazell; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Sherwood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Backpack Ministry at Craig Valley Baptist Church.
