James Gray Guynn

Mr. James Gray Guynn, age 93, of Ararat, VA, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Patrick County, VA, September 1, 1932, the son of the late George and Pearlie Martin Guynn. Mr. Guynn grew up in Ararat, VA and graduated from Blue Ridge High School. He was a farmer and worked in the timber industry with Weyerhaeuser Corporation for many years. He was active in Ararat Fire Department where he served as the Fire Chief and was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Louise Beasley Guynn; children, Cheryl Bowling and her husband Brent, Donna Golding and her husband, Tommy, and Jim Guynn and his wife, Marie. 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lola Weatherman and his brothers, Theodore Guynn and Dick Guynn. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Church Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Patrick County VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will have a visitation with friends and family at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy, NC.
