Douglas Allen Beheler

April 14, 1953 - May 23, 2026

Douglas Allen Beheler, affectionately known as Doug, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on April 14, 1953, Doug was a lifelong resident of Botetourt County, where he built a life centered around faith, family, hard work, and the outdoors.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margaret Beheler, and his sister, Phyllis Hodges. He is survived by his twin sister, Joan Payne, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Doug was a devoted husband to Bonnie, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Angela Jackson and her husband Bobby “BJ” and Chad Beheler and his wife Brittany. He was a proud and deeply loved grandfather to Trevor Poulin and his wife Ashley, Trey Poulin and his wife Taylor, Charlotte Beheler, and Luke Beheler. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, River and Braelyn, who brought him tremendous joy.

Doug spent more than 30 years working as a butcher before beginning a second career with Altec Inc., where he later retired. During his time there, he formed a lifelong friendship with his best friend, Lee.

A devout Christian, Doug was proud of his faith and lived his life guided by kindness, humility, and love for others. He found happiness in the simple things — hunting, fishing, gardening, playing horseshoes, card games with family and friends, and spending time outdoors. He especially loved cooking for the people he cared about and took pride in preparing his favorite meals for family gatherings and holidays. Christmas was one of his favorite times of year, especially when surrounded by the people he loved most.

More than anything, Doug treasured his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved making memories with them, especially sitting around the table playing Old Maid and sharing laughs together. His steady presence, sense of humor, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Doug’s legacy will live on through the family he cherished, the faith he carried so proudly, and the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to love him.

Forever in our hearts.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
