James "Jaime" Lewis Longabaugh

James "Jaime" Lewis Longabaugh, age 35, of Callaway, VA, passed away at their home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 21, 2026. They were born in Lansing, MI, on April 17, 1991, to their adoptive parents Steven Lewis Longabaugh and Jessica Lou Longabaugh and their biological mother Eleanor Bernice Caddick. They were preceded in death by their biological mother. Jaime is survived by their partner, Cadence Eva Thomas Custin; siblings Ryan Mills (Chasity), Rubee Starling (Michael), Jonathan Longabaugh, Jordan Heruska, Alex Custin (Amanda), Bryson Custin, Colton Custin, and Eleanor "Ellie" Custin; pack of furbabies, Ichigo, Gretchen, Kailash, Fitzgerald, Victoria, Benoit, Finnegan, and Jinxie; and so many beloved, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jaime was a treasure to everyone who knew them. They loved photography, the outdoors, reading, and going to the movies. They never knew a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. They loved their family, biological and adoptive both, with their whole heart, and treasured every opportunity to be with them; it was one of their final wishes that their family make peace with each other if they could. In lieu of a gathering, Jaime wanted everyone to take a day to do something that they know Jaime would have enjoyed doing with them and for everyone who does so to send Cadence a card, letter, or whatever they deem appropriate that shares how they remembered Jaime. They suggested reading "How I Go to the Woods" by Mary Oliver and listening to music from a playlist they put together, especially "A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon & Garfunkel." May the ill have good health. May they be freed from every bondage. May the weak become strong and have affectionate hearts for one another.
