Jean Ardery
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we announce the passing of Jean Ardery, lovingly known as "Mama Jean" “Granny Jean,” on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the age of 87.
Jean was a remarkable woman whose love and faith touched generations. A devoted Christian, she lived her life with unwavering faith in God and shared that faith through the way she loved and cared for others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend whose kindness, strength, and warm laughter filled every room.
She had a beautiful spirit and was always singing—whether it was a favorite hymn, an old song, or softly singing to the people she loved most. Music was one of the many ways she showed love.
Jean was especially known for her creativity and caring heart. She could spend hours making beautiful floral arrangements and found joy in creating beauty for others. She also loved cooking and feeding the people she loved. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth, wonderful food, laughter, and the feeling of home.
She also had a special love for her dogs, who brought her comfort, companionship, and joy throughout the years.
Though her family grieves this tremendous loss, they find peace knowing Jean’s faith has carried her home to be with the Lord she loved so dearly. Her legacy of love, faith, music, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Ruth Kidd, Debbie Harris (Jim Harris), Tim Redmond (Monica Redmond), Jimmy Ardery, Pat Correll-Huffman, and many other children who she loved/adopted; grandchildren, Amanda Adams, Adam Albert, Hannah Bryan, Christopher Redmond, Avery Redmond; great-grandchildren, Parker Adams, Grayson Adams, Emerson Adams, Asher Albert, Nora Albert, Andy Bryan, Embrlynne Bryan; brother, Dennis Hiner; as well as many Hiner cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Hiner; mother, Virginia Maude Goode, brother Larry Hiner, many aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 pm on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Lotz Funeral Home Roanoke. A celebration of Jean’s life will follow at 12 pm with Rick Via officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a meal following all services at the funeral home.
The family asks that Granny Jean be remembered through acts of kindness, shared meals, songs sung loudly, love for family, and faith in God—just as she lived every day of her life.
