Paula Wells Crist

Paula Wells Crist, 68, of Amherst, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on March 17, 1958 to her parents Sylvia Ann Cash and Garnett Lee Wells. She was married to the late, Gregory Earl Crist. She loved gardening, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. She was always a joy to be around and made people very happy. She took pride in her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her grandchildren. She was the best Amma. She was one of the most generous people you could know, always opening her heart to everyone she met. She was strong in her faith and knew she would have eternal life.

She is preceded in death by her father, Garnett Lee Wells; mother, Sylvia Ann Cash; father of her children Robert James Burton; and her husband, Gregory Earl Crist.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Katie) Campbell(Scott); daughter, Leigh Ann Burton(Bryan Seamans); daughter, Emily Grace Burton(John Tyson); Brother, James Lee Wells; Nephew, William Wells; grandchildren, Haylee Seamans, Madalyn (Maddie) Seamans, Jordan Campbell, Holden Campbell, and Ophelia Tyson; and special friend Jane Wilkins “Thelma & Louise”.

A private graveside service for close friends and family will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 starting at 2:00 PM at the Wells Family Cemetery on Cherry Hill Rd. Pastor Benjamin Smith will be officiating. Norris Funeral Service-Driskill Chapel is serving the family.
