Edna was very active in her earlier years as she bowled sometimes 3 or 4 days a week. She also loved to play card games, such as rook, canasta, crazy 8, and was an amazing bridge player, from what we have been told. She would host several bridge parties at her home and when they were short a player, they would teach our dad how to play. When possible she and dad would support the grandchildren in their sports and their activities.

Edna loved her Lord and loved her Family. She and Oma were married 73 years and when he passed, May 2023, things just really changed for her. We were blessed that she found a new home at Our Lady of the Valley and she settled in quite well. The staff there took amazing care of her and most of them called her “Miss Edna”. She was loved by many there at Our Lady of the Valley. She also had Good Samaritan Hospice helping with their added touch of tender love and care. Daniel was her nurse and prayer partner. The team at Good Samaritan visited her often.

Edna was a member of Edgewood Christian Church for many years and served in many areas. Most Sundays she was found still talking and greeting people in the congregation when the service was starting. She never met a stranger.

Edna was a long time member of the Hillcrest Chapter #159 Order of the Eastern Star. She was presented her 70th year pin at Our Lady of the Valley just a few weeks ago. This was a very special gift that she received.

A celebration of her life will be held at Edgewood Christian Church, 1006 Peck Street, NW Roanoke, VA 24017. The service will be held by Sheldon Cosma. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. The service will be held on July 2,2026 , at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Edgewood Christian Church or Hillcrest Chapter #159 Order of the Eastern Star, in Edna’s memory. The service will be also available online below.
