Selma Mae Long Mills Sater

Selma Mae Long Mills Sater, 90, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1935, in Fieldale, VA to the late Felix Solomon Long and Evelyn Mae Conway Long. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, William Curtis Mills and her second husband, Stanley Leonard Sater; sister, Frances Long Franklin; and brother, Charles Edward Long.

Selma was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Martinsville. She found great joy in gardening and loved traveling, especially to Hawaii and Oak Island, North Carolina. Selma was an excellent cook who always made sure those around her were cared for, often putting the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed antiquing, collecting rocks, and discovering unique treasures along the way. A devoted cat lover, Selma cherished her beloved cat, Bitsy, and loved her with all her heart. Her kindness, selflessness, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Debra Sue Mills, Rhonda Mills, and Lori Mills (Jackie); grandchildren, Joshua Goodin, Amy Ryan, Jason Brenner, Amber Goodin, Tara Joyce, and Daniel Joyce; great-grandchildren, Kayley Goodin, Ashton Gardner, Camren Goodin, Zane Gardner, Nicholas Joyce, Nathan Joyce Winfield, Lena Ryan, Eden Brenner, and Evelyn Ryan; and great-great-grandchildren, Aurora Bennett and Samuel Joyce.

Burial will be private. Norris Funeral Services, Inc of Martinsville, VA is serving the Mills family.
