James David Hall

James David Hall, 81, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1944, in Raleigh County, West Virginia, to the late Wiley Roosevelt Hall and Ruby Irene Stone Hall. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Wiley “Buddy” Hall, Jr., William Bradley Hall, Roger Stuart Hall, Frances Jean Hall Kilby, and infant brother, Roy Lee Hall.

James honorably served in the United States Army and was a truck driver for Prillaman & Pace for 25 years until he retired. He was a member of Prillaman Baptist Church in Ferrum, Virginia. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America. He loved woodworking and spending quality time with his family. As a devoted father, much of James’s spare time was spent coaching all his children’s sports teams, whether it be basketball, baseball or softball.

James leaves behind the following family to cherish his memory; wife of fifty seven years, Mary Lois Gregory Hall; children, Kimberly A. Smith and James Christopher Hall (Tiffany); siblings, Ruby Josephine Hall Smith, Charlotte Marie Hall Griffith, Nancy Louise Hall Wray (Richard), and Michael Jeffrey Hall (Vickie); grandchildren, Taylor Danielle Gilley (Justin), Erica Lynsey Brown, James Colton Hall, and Ivan Michael Hall; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Rae Gilley; fury baby, Sassy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Randy Winn and Dale Moses officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
