Elizabeth Diane Jones
Elizabeth Diane Jones, age 71, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Born on March 5, 1955, in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Edward Phillips and Catherine Layne Phillips.
Elizabeth was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life, and each morning began with reading her Bible and completing her daily devotional. She loved cooking and nurturing her many plants and filling her home with warmth and hospitality.
Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Elizabeth was highly sought after to sing at weddings, church services, and funerals. Whether singing in the church choir or sharing a special song for life's most meaningful moments, she used her talent to encourage and comfort those around her.
Above all, Elizabeth cherished her family. She adored her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to share her love and encouragement with them. She had a kind and welcoming heart, loved everyone she met, and formed lasting friendships wherever she went. She also treasured the companionship of her beloved cat, "Little Girl," who brought her much comfort and joy.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert T. Jones; her son, Tim J. Callahan and wife, Jeryl; her three brothers, Marvin Phillips and wife, Mavis, Robert "Dinky" Phillips and wife, Mary, and Mike Phillips and wife, Theresa; her two cherished grandchildren, Victoria Callahan and Elijah Callahan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Robert Phillips. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
