Alicja Anna Chapman
Alicja Anna Chapman, 77, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. She was born on February 18, 1949, in Przemysc, Poland, to the late Mieczyslaw J. Trybalski and Antonina Trybalski. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Marian “Arthur” Trybalski and Krzysztof Trybalski.
Mrs. Chapman came to the United States at the age of sixteen with her parents and two brothers. The family settled in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where Alicja completed cosmetology school and met the love of her life, Robert E. Chapman. A talented and well-known hairstylist throughout Rhode Island, she attended hair shows in Johnston for many years and was proud to serve as co-owner of Spritz Hair Salon.
Alicja was a devoted wife for fifty-five wonderful years. She found great joy tending to her garden, collecting Swarovski crystals, feeding the birds that visited her welcoming yard, and taking annual family road trips to Florida. Her greatest happiness came from going on walks with her beloved grandson, Wayne.
A woman of deep faith, Alicja was a devoted member of St. Kevin Church in Warwick, Rhode Island, before relocating to Martinsville, Virginia, where she became a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Ellwood Chapman; her devoted daughters, Melissa Andrews (Matt) and Celina Allen; her beloved grandson, Wayne Robert Chapman; and grand-pets, Diesel, Jax, Loki, and Lilly. All who knew Alicja will forever treasure her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Martinsville, Virginia. Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA.
