Corine Persinger Fralin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Connie, on July 12, 2026.
Born on July 18, 1944, in Covington, Virginia, Connie was the daughter of Henry and Mamie Persinger. She resided in Roanoke, Virginia, most of her life.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Hoyt Lee; her twin sister, Loraine Perkins; her sisters, Claire Persinger and Jane Beatles; and her brothers, Michael Persinger, Lonnie Persinger, Leonard Persinger, and Walter Persinger.
She is survived by the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Letchford; her brother, David Persinger; her children, Melissa Thompson (Matt), Ricky Fralin (Sarah), and Denise Camden; her grandchildren, Teagan, Everly, Maverick, Abby (Noah), Eric (Kayla), Patrick, Derrick, Kendrick, Andrick, Maverick, Tauric, Kinsley, Pete, Justin, Will, Nolan, and Amy; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many other cherished family members and dear friends.
Connie will be remembered as a selfless, kind-hearted woman whose greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her children and those around her, always putting others before herself. She worked tirelessly for everything she had and believed in helping others whenever she could, often saying she would give the shirt off her back if it meant helping someone in need.
She had a warm sense of humor and a gift for storytelling. Connie loved to laugh and share stories—often the same ones many times over—with the same joy and enthusiasm each time. Her laughter and personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Connie never met a stranger and had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome. Whether she had known someone for years or had just met them, she treated people with kindness, warmth, and genuine interest. Her friendly spirit and open heart made an impact on everyone she encountered.
She also cherished staying connected with her family and friends, often spending hours on the phone when she could not be with them in person. Those conversations were one of her greatest joys.
Connie lived a full life and enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, creating memories and experiencing many beautiful places. Her adventurous spirit and appreciation for life will be remembered fondly.
Above all, Connie will be remembered for her love, generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy will live on through those who knew and loved her.
Through her battle with Lewy Body Dementia, the family would like to extend a special thank you to the Friendship North Memory Care Unit for their amazing care and compassion, and to Good Samaritan Hospice for helping provide comfort care and keeping her comfortable and at peace to the very end.
Visitation will be held on July 15, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., with a celebration of life to follow at 3:30 p.m. Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24019.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
