Elmer "Fudd" Lee Holley
Elmer “Fudd” Lee Holley, 86, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was born September 26, 1939, in Franklin County, to Johnny Lee Holley and Bertha Irene Moore Holley, both deceased.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannean Franklin; sisters, Pauline Mullins, and Paulett Holley; and brother, Cornell Holley.
Fudd was of the Christian faith and a member of Providence Baptist Church in Henry, Virginia. He built motors for 12 years at Mason Speed Shop before beginning a 38-year career as a long-haul truck driver. He loved building race cars and motors and enjoyed life on the road. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family and loved them deeply. He also enjoyed farming, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. To most people, he was known simply as Fudd, but to his daughter, Kac, he will always be remembered as her race car-building, truck-driving, horse show-loving dad.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Irene Young Holley; daughter, Katherine “Aunt Kac” Holley Hopkins (Joey); sister, Sue Koger; nephew, adopted-in-heart, Leonard Nunn; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Bassett Chapel. Interment will follow at Young Family Cemetery, 1421 Fork Mountain Road, Bassett, Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks to all the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and especially the staff at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
