William Allen Stapp

William Allen Stapp, 66, passed away on July 18, 2026. Born on July 31, 1959, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, Willy lived a life filled with adventure, hard work, and a deep appreciation for family and the outdoors.

For many years, Willy was the proud owner of Commonwealth Container Repair, where he built lasting relationships through his dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic.

Willy had a true passion for the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to enjoy nature. He loved hunting, hiking, and camping, especially the many trips he took along the James River and New River, as well as Sweden. He was also a certified scuba diver in his younger years. Beyond the outdoors, Willy enjoyed cooking for family and friends and had a lifelong love of music. He attended countless concerts and music festivals over the years, creating memories that reflected his fun-loving spirit and appreciation for live music.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Bill Stapp, and his beloved granddaughter, Ruby Moore.

He is survived by his son, Chris Stapp (Amber) of Axton, Virginia; his daughter, Natalie Moore (Cory) of Glen Allen, Virginia; and his treasured grandchildren, Grant Moore and Pierce Moore; his sisters; Glenda Jenkins (Gary) of Danville, Virginia, Debbie Smith (David) of Danville, Virginia, and Bobbie McKague (Fred) of Dry Fork, Virginia; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Willy’s life during a visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 7450 Martinsville Highway, Danville, VA 24541. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m.
