Jeannette Avery Seay

On June 18, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at home, we said goodbye to our nana. Jeannette Avery Seay, 88, will always be remembered for being a sweet woman who never met a stranger. She was the youngest of 4 children born of Billie R. Avery and Janie B. Avery. She is preceded in death by both parents and her three siblings, Billy M. Avery, Lois A. Skeen and Robert O. Avery.

Nana was not only a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother but also a much loved sister, aunt, great aunt, pet parent and friend. She raised an incredible daughter who fiercely loved her and remained close her entire life, one biological granddaughter who was EVER SO LUCKY to have all the time she had with her and a non biological granddaughter who remained local and always kept in close touch daily. Nana also was able to raise her great granddaughter whom she thought the world of, and was nana’s pride and joy. She inspired family values and raised her girls to be compassionate and understanding.

Even through the years as our family grew to include significant others and more for both her daughter and granddaughters, she remained the center of us. Her grandson-in-law quickly became well loved in her life and they went on many adventures together, becoming inseparable as he also became an additional caregiver to her in her time of need. In addition Nana was also blessed with her great-grandsons and additional great-granddaughter whom she loved and was able to have years of memories with.

Nana spent time during her working years watching her nieces and nephews and even neighborhood children all because she loved kids and her family. She always had pets around her and she was a great fur-mom to many. She loved going out, being around family and of course almost anything sweet. She was a hard worker, compassionate neighbor, and always had room in her heart for more.

Per her request in regard to arrangements, there is no service scheduled. In honor of Nana, however, there will be a remembrance to be determined later by the family. To celebrate Nana, her strength, determination, dedication, love, loyalty and caring nature the family asks for anyone willing to donate to do so to their local animal shelter or cat cafe in her honor, and to be kind to each other.
