Isla Indigo King
Isla Indigo King, 15, became an angel on July 15, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. Isla was born to Shanna Francisco-King and the late Robert Allen King on February 2, 2011.
She grew up chasing fireflies, picking flowers, and dancing in the kitchen with her sisters, Sienna and Elena, on their farm in Snow Creek. Isla loved a party, a festival, and every occasion that brought together friends and family — soaking up all of the goodness and light.
Isla radiated love and kindness in every moment, offering a sweet smile and sunshine to every person she encountered. Isla shined. As a Bassett High student, Isla was a member of Talent Search, CHILL, MHC After 3 and Teachers for Tomorrow; she volunteered throughout the community and valued opportunities to demonstrate love and compassion. Isla loved spending time with children and dreamed of graduating from VA Tech and becoming a Kindergarten teacher.
Celebrating her life on Earth; her mom, Shanna Francisco-King and partner Edward J. Stern; sisters, Sienna and Elena King; grandmothers, Joan Francisco and Judy King; aunts & uncles, Sean & Lina Francisco, Jennie Preston, Tatyana Maidebura, Eric & Sarah Capps, Kay King & Steve Kiracofe, Michael McClendon & Ann King; cousins, Ryder, Grayson, Cashel, Abigail, Evamarie, Marhaid and Nola; chosen family, Shannon, Rachel, Brianna, Eli & Emma Cox, Mike & Stephanie Stephens, Jimmy & Donna McGarry, and Kara, Kevin, Kolton & Kyleigh Gilley; and so many close friends, extended family and friend-family whom she loved dearly.
Celebrating her life in Heaven; her daddy, Robert King; and grandaddies; Gary Francisco, Robert King, and Jim Murray; uncle, Shea Francisco; and aunt, Andrea King.
A Celebration of Isla’s amazing life and love in this universe will be held Saturday, July 25, at 2 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, in Martinsville, VA. In lieu of flowers, donate your time or resources to the organization or cause with which you knew Isla or which shows love and kindness in the world.
