Wylie "Chip" Colondis Graves
Wylie “Chip” Graves, Jr. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family who loved him deeply. He’s preceded in death by his parents, Wylie and Sally Graves; daughter, Melissa Graves; grandson, Ethan Coe; brother-in-law, Dan Smith, and first wife, Linda Graves.
He is survived by his faithful wife, Cindy Graves; daughters, Abby Melvin and husband Bill, and Rebekah Graves; grand-daughter, Zuma Frankovich; stepson, Joey Smith; sister, Sarah Smith, and beloved companions, Emma and Diggit, along with countless more loyal friends and family.
Chip spent his career shaping the future of his students as an advanced math teacher in Patrick and Henry Counties. He was a committed and incredibly proud dad to 3 girls, teaching his daughters so many life lessons, how to grow a garden the neighborhood would envy, change a tire, and handle a shotgun.
He was a talented woodworker, operating Walnut Ridge Woodworking since his retirement from teaching. As an avid sporting clays enthusiast, he traveled competing up and down the East Coast creating lasting friendships along the way.
All services will be held privately.
