Patricia Aheron Helms
Patricia Aheron Helms, 78, of Bassett, Virginia, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was born on March 25, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Willie Howard Aheron and Minnie Lou Holley Aheron.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Preston Helms; her sisters, Catherine “Kitty” Aheron Sheppard and Marie Aheron Emerson; and her brothers, Joseph “Joe” Aheron, Pete Aheron, and Willie Aheron.
Patricia dedicated most of her working career providing in-home childcare, where she lovingly cared for countless children and families. She was a faithful and active member of Northside Baptist Church, where she loved the Lord and faithfully served her church. While she enjoyed the simple things in life, nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Renae Helms Wilkerson (Kevin) and Susan Helms (Michael Roberts); her son, Tony Allen Helms (Lisa); honorary son, Chris Worley; five grandchildren, Anthony Helms (Karissa), Talor Goins (Ben), Jesse Helms, Ryan Wilkerson, and Trinity Hovey (Eric); four great-grandchildren, Brody Helms, Brooks Helms, Demi Hovey, and Zeke Goins, her brothers and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Dupont, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
“Our mom spent her life trying to live by God’s word. Early this morning, she got her dream...of heaven. She has been reunited with dad and I’m sure she’s happy, walking hand in hand with him. Although we as a family are mourning her loss, we know for sure that she is exactly where she wants to be. No more pain, no more sickness. She is flying high. Our mom got her wings.”
