Joanie Kay Redd
Joanie Kay Redd entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial hospital.
Joanie was born September 17, 1956, in Martinsville to the late James W. Fuller & Arlene Roher Fuller.
Joanie lived a pleasant early life, growing up around family & friends in Pittsylvania Co. In high school she participated in band, choir and local beauty pageants and was a graduate of Tunstall High school class of 1974. She joined Sharon Grove Baptist Church at a young age. Joanie then attended Danville Community College, in 1978 she wed & later had twin daughters whom she loved dearly, Christina & Crystal (both deceased).
Joanie was a spirited person who loved all things, ornate, appliquéd, embroidered & beautiful. Decorating & making her house a home made her most happy. She loved HSN & QVC shopping and good home cooked food. She attended First Baptist Church East Martinsville briefly.
In 2001, Robert entered her life as a devoted companion & has stood by her side, serving humbly even in her last days. The Dillard family as a whole has embraced Joanie giving her a home in their hearts for many years.
Surviving is one brother Michael (Phala), nieces & nephews: Marcus, Lenae, Sherria & Jared. 3 aunts Martha “Reen” Fuller, Jeannette Fuller both of Axton, VA & Carrie Fuller Holt of Chicago, IL and many dear cousins, relatives & friends.
From an early age, type 1 diabetes plagued Joanie for the majority of her life and played a significant role in her health decline. Knowing what you know she’s been thru it’s ok to mourn but please know her faith sustained her when it seemed impossible, she held on; more setbacks than many could ever fathom, she held on. Though enduring heartache & loss after loss, she is now made new, healthy & whole by our Heavenly Father, may that bring peace to all.
