T. Ivey Adams

Rev. Tommy Ivey Adams, Jr., 91, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Ivey was most recently of Salem, Va. However, he also spent time in Rocky Mount, Va., Phenix City, Ala., Fort Worth, Texas, and Eufaula, Ala. He pastored Beulah Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, Va., where he retired in 1999. His church membership was then held at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va. Ivey was also an advocate of the Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief. In the Ham Radio community, he was known by his call sign of KC4DPY. In addition to amateur radio, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and traveling. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Aaron Robert and Mattie B. Spivey; parents, Tommy Ivey, Sr. and Theda Bara Adams; and a daughter, Martha Adams Sullivan. His surviving family includes his wife, Ruth B. "Dolly" Adams; children, Neal Adams (Diane) and Phillip Adams (Tara); grandson, Sean Sullivan (Courtney); and sister, Martha Beatrice Adams (Charles). A celebration of Ivey's life will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel located at 305 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem, Va. The period of visitation will begin at 12 Noon and the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Rick Poland will officiate.
