James Isaac Albert
James Isaac Albert, age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the ones he loved. Jimmy was born in McCoy, Virginia on August 5, 1935, to the late Alva Lee (Bush) Albert and Florence McCoy Albert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jack Albert and Jon Albert. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Bonnie Lucas Albert; his children, Kim Albert Smith (Shake) of Pilot, Virginia, and Kevin Lee Albert (Patty) of Blacksburg; his grandchildren, Andrew Smith (Anna), Stephen Smith (Michelle), Daniel Smith (Emily), Hannah Hutslar (Darren), Heidi Boles, and Ryan Albert; and his great-grandchildren, Addi Smith Batchelor (Moses), Colt, Kinsley, Bentley, Charlie, Lucas, and Sawyer Smith, Kate, Remi, and Bear Hutslar, and Ava Boles. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Albert McCoy (Gary) of Blacksburg. Jimmy lived his life as a devoted husband to his wife, father to his children, and servant to his Lord. Jimmy was a faithful member at Gateway Baptist Church for many years as a Deacon, bus worker, and layman wherever needed. He was later a member of Auburn Baptist Church where he found joy in the visitation ministry. The majority of his working years were spent at the General Electric plant in Salem, as production specialist, and later at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in buildings and grounds. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 11, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg. Burial will follow at the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery in McCoy, Virginia.
