Sharon Wright Burley
Sharon Faye Wright Burley, 67, of Amherst, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Lynchburg on December 9, 1958, she was the daughter of Wesley Lewis Wright and the late June Faye Cunningham Wright.
Sharon was a hardworking and devoted mother who spent her life caring for and providing for her family. She retired from the Central Virginia Training Center, where she worked as a nurse’s aide. Her caring nature was shown not only through her work, but also in the love she gave to those closest to her.
In her free time, Sharon enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking. She especially liked watching cooking shows on television and trying new ideas in the kitchen. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Brittany Burley and her husband, Jacob Danos; her son, Douglas Anthony Burley, II; four grandchildren, Lola, Cole, Kaci and Liam; and two half-brothers, Roger Wright and Brett Wright.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Amherst Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
Sharon will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her caring heart and the love she had for her family.
