Carol Hankins Easton

December 11, 1959 - August 17, 2026

Carol Hankins Easton, 66, passed away on August 17, 2026, at 7:25 a.m.

Carol was born on December 11, 1959, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Elizabeth Hankins Crouch and Jewel Claybourne Hankins. Later in life, Donald Crouch, her stepfather, was there with love and presence.

Carol was a strong-willed and stubborn woman who lived life on her own terms. Her journey through life was not always easy, and like all of us, she didn't always make the best choices. But through every season of her life, one thing remained constant: Carol loved hard.

Above all else, she loved her family. Her children held a special place in her heart, and no matter where life took her, the love she had for them never faded. She cared deeply for her family and friends, and those who truly knew Carol knew the strength of the love behind that stubborn spirit.

Carol leaves behind two children, Johnny Dean Rigney of Granite Falls, North Carolina, and Tyger Spence Curry of Claudville, Virginia.

She was also a grandmother to four grandchildren: Alexis Skye Rigney (24), Patience Renea Rigney (21), Tessa Paige Curry (15), and Maddox Dean Rigney (5). Her children and grandchildren are an important part of the love and legacy she leaves behind.

Carol is also survived by four siblings: Bruce Hankins, Doug Hankins, Shirley Redman, and Doris Janey.

Carol was also blessed with a very special friendship that found its way back to her. After being apart for many years, a dear friend returned to Carol's life and became an important part of her later years. She stood beside Carol and was there for her through some of the most difficult times toward the end of her life. The love, friendship, kindness, and care she gave Carol will never be forgotten, and what she did for her cannot go unrecognized. Thank you, Debbie Cochran.

Carol's life cannot be measured only by the choices she made or the difficulties she faced. It is also measured by the people she loved, the people who loved her, and the memories she leaves behind. She was imperfect, strong, stubborn, and deeply human; and through it all, her love for her children, family, and friends remained true.

She will be remembered, loved, and deeply missed.

The family has elected to hold a private memorial service for close friends and family to honor and celebrate Carol's life.
