Kathleen "Kathy" Brunk Goad

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Goad, who gently entered the embrace of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23rd. Kathy was the beloved and devoted wife of Gary Goad for an extraordinary sixty years, a testament to enduring love and partnership that inspired all who knew them. She dedicated many years of service as a medical transcriptionist with the former Wolfe Medical Clinic in Rocky Mount, Virginia, where her precision and commitment were highly valued. Originally a native of Athens, West Virginia, Kathy found her cherished forever home in Wirtz, Virginia, alongside her devoted husband, Gary. She cultivated a life rich in love and simple pleasures. Her spirit truly bloomed in her vibrant vegetable and flower gardens, where her green thumb brought forth beauty and bounty. Family was the cornerstone of her world; she found immense joy in creating lasting memories during treasured beach trips and in every precious moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched deeply. Kathy was also an artisan of the heart, meticulously handcrafting exquisite quilts. Each stitch was a testament to her boundless love and care, creating not just blankets, but warm, tangible expressions of her affection that became treasured family heirlooms. The family extends its deepest gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the dedicated staff at Harmony Memory Care and the comforting support from Genteva Hospice Services during Kathy's final days. Her warmth, love, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was born in Dott, West Virginia on July 7, 1942 a daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Brunk. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Evelyn Fortner, Russell Brunk, Wayne Brunk, Douglas Brunk, Delorice Brunk, Joyce Brunk and Helen Brunk. Kathy retired from Carilion Clinic as a medical secretary working at the Wolfe Medical Group and was a member of Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Gary Bentley Goad; son, Kevin Bentley Goad (Nancy) and their children, Ali Bell (Wes), Gary L. Goad (Ashley); her great-grandchildren, Grayson Bell, Ainsley Bell, Emery Goad and Chase Grimes; her daughter, Amy G. Wells (Mike) and their children, Kathleen Wells and Emily Wells.
