Jack Everett Nilsson

Jack Everett Nilsson Sr., 84, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walde Nilsson and Carl Nilsson.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Nilsson; son, Jack Nilsson Jr. (Katya); daughters, Daria Acus (Steve), Heather Nilsson, and Molly Meixner (Eric); grandchildren, Whitney, Savannah, Maisie, Manny, Dalton, Ashley, Sally Katherine, Lucia, Kendall, Chase, and Cooper; several great grandchildren; brother, Dale Nilsson (Glenda); sister, Catherine Scott (Jerry); and numerous other family members.

Jack was born at Fort Jackson, SC and proudly served in the Air Force. Outside of work, he rarely passed up an opportunity to sing.

Jack was a self-employed accomplished instrumentation and controls engineer. He was a member of the Mensa society and earned 2 Bachelor’s Degrees from South Carolina and California. At one time he held 14 patents including 3 in solar energy. He was passionate about making energy affordable to everyone.

Beyond his many professional accomplishments, Jack will be remembered for his brilliant and inventive mind, his sense of humor, and his ability to make those around him laugh with one of his “dad jokes”. And – as Jack would surely remind everyone – his remarkable ability to never be wrong.

He was endlessly curious and believed even the most difficult problems could be solved. He loved his family and his legacy will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

The family will have a Funeral Service at 1:00pm on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Evergreen’s Chapel of Light, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24015.
