Hugh Vernon Pittmon

Hugh “Vernon” Pittmon, 71, of Chatham, VA passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 28, 2026.

“Griz” as he was often referred to by his friends worked as an auto mechanic prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time outdoors as he had a love for nature and all critters.

Born on February 8, 1955 to the late Joe Cleveland and Myrtie Dalton Pittmon. He was one of twelve siblings and is survived by a brother; John Pittmon of the residence, sisters; Betty Davis of Nathalie, Joan Motley of Blairs, Vickye Pittmon, Myrtie Giles, both of Chatham; A sister-in-law; Joan Pittmon, a brother in law; Pete Eanes of Chatham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Vernon’s request, No Formal Service will be held.
