Tamara Lynn Lawson
Tamara Lynn Lawson, 67, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, August 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Carl Rutherford; and parents, Hersel and Joyce Lawson.
Tamara is survived by her loving daughters, Phabeanna Lawson and Breanna Martin (Matt); son-in-love, Luke Campbell; brothers, Anthony Lawson (Carol) and Hersel Lawson Jr. (Kathy); nephew, Ethan Lawson; furkids, Athena and Nahla; special aunts, Linda Coltrane and Janett Munley; and many cherished cousins and friends.
Tamara was known for her free spirit, her penchant for finding creative outlets and her impeccable fashion. She loved learning new things, meeting new people and collecting anything hummingbird related. In her later years she found renewed devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ which brought her immeasurable comfort after suffering the loss of her most precious son. The sun truly rose and set on her children whom she believed were her greatest accomplishments.
With deepest gratitude, a very special thank you to her incredible pastor and church sisters and brothers of First Apostolic Church of Radford; her amazing cousins (especially her “Janie” and Anthony); her dear friend Mandy Noffsinger; her incredible physician Ann Beran; the most loving staff we ever met at Radford Health and Rehab Center; her selflessly giving friends and neighbors Mark, Greg and Brenda; and too many clinical teams to mention individually.
Lastly – a note from “Bean.” You will always be my Mazame. I will always be your Beanzame. I will always love you, Mama.
The family will have a Visitation on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 12:00 – 1:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Chapel Service (also at the funeral home) will be held at 1:00pm and then processing to East Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tamara’s honor to the Good Samaritan Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House, 4751 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.
