Larry Zane Martin

Larry Zane Martin, age 73, of Christiansburg died, Tuesday, September 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Christiansburg, Virginia on August 5, 1953. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlton Zane Martin. He was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Larry owned and operated Haynes Excavation and Septic Service from 1989 to 2024. He was an avid motorcyclist and served as Director of the New River Valley Harley Owners Group #2137 in 2009-2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Baber-Martin; daughter, Sally (Todd) Howard; son, Bradley Zane (Chelsea) Martin; five grandchildren, Lauren Howard (Micah Lewis), Aaron Howard, Jaxson Martin, Corbyn Martin, and Carter Martin; mother, Peggy King Martin; brothers, Johnny (Teresa) Martin and Terry (Amy) Martin; sister, Pam (Gary) Earles; special nephew, J.C. Martin and family; special niece, Tracie Martin and family; and several other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care of Larry over the past four months, especially Taylor, Holly, Denise & Miranda; as well as volunteer Jim, who sat with him as needed. Also, special thanks to his daughter Sally, who lovingly cared for him in his final hours. Funeral services will be conducted, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Good Shepherd Baptist Church Chapel with the Pastors Michael Bartlett and Buford, Linkous officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, prior to the service on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
