Lula Fisher Blankenship

Lula “Lou” Fisher Blankenship, 91, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Cena Fisher; 3 sisters; and a brother.

Lou is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Leon Nelson Blankenship Sr.; daughters, Juanita Sensel and Annette DeWeese (Freddie); sons, Mavin Fitch (Connie), Michael Fitch (Rhonda), Nelson Blankenship Jr. (Wendy), and Michael Blankenship (Marisa); 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Michael Joe Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and all the Blankenship in-laws.

The family will have a Visitation on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Chapel Service (also at the funeral home) will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 10:30am and then processing to Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
