Major Henry Scles

Major Henry Scales, Jr., 72, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1954, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Major Scales, Sr. and Mildred Cahill Scales.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Montgomery.

Major graduated from Martinsville High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He diligently worked at Tultex and Service Masters for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to good music and watching his favorite team, the Baltimore Ravens. Above all, he held a deep love for his family, especially enjoying time with his children and grandchildren. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Kamica “Moo” Taylor, Katrina “Koko” Hairston; son, Isaiah A. Scales; sisters, Diane Scales, Rogernette Scales; brother, Roger Scales; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel.
