Leroy Ivan McCarty

Leroy Ivan McCarty, 91, of Danville, VA, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, while a resident of Roman Eagle Health & Rehab, Danville, VA. Leroy was born in Vinton, VA on March 24, 1935 to the late Evelyn McCarty Hall and the late Edgar Ivy McCarty.

Leroy was of the Baptist faith. He was a hard-working, self-employed man. He loved all types of animals, especially his beloved cats, Dingo and Daisy. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Kathy McCarty and Cindy Lavinder (Bill); his son, Kevin McCarty (Lori), grandchildren, Chelsea DuBay (Alec), Chloe Lavinder, Natalie Babcock (Nate) and their family, and Deborah Winstead (Mike) and their family, as well as a great-grandchild, Palmer June DuBay. In addition, he is survived by his long-time companion and special friend, Sybol Anderson.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was predeceased by a brother, Jackie McCarty.

A private service will be held for friends and family at a later date.
