Raymond Moon Crane

Raymond Moon Crane, 91, of Danville, VA, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, while a patient of Sovah Health-Danville. Raymond was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on May 23, 1935, to the late Nannie Sue Moon Crane and the late Claude Swanson Crane. Raymond married the love of his life, Lois Brumfield Crane, who survives, of the residence, on November 15, 1957.

Raymond was saved at the age of 18. He was a faithful member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church for more than 70 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher for at least 70 years, most recently of the King of Kings Class. He also served as a Deacon, Trustee and a Lay Speaker at the church. Raymond was a hard-working man, providing for his family by serving as the manager of the Danville Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. Prior to this career, he proudly served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Carolyn Sue Stephens (John) of Providence, NC and son, Edward Crane (Linda) of Danville, as well as five grandchildren, Catherine Hogan (Brian), Will Stephens (Tiffany), Lucas Stephens, Jay Sokos (Ashley), and Jennifer Jones (Nathan), great-grandchildren Gracie Loftis, Bryson Jones, Addison Stephens, Arianna Jones, Ashlyn Sokos, Lizzie Sokos, Nolan Hogan, Owen Stephens and Carson Stephens.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Crane Adams, and five brothers, Alvin, Melvin, Neal, Eugene, and James Crane.

Funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Steve Chromy, Rev. Ryan Riley and Rev. Don Davidson. Interment will follow the funeral service at Highland Burial Park, Danville. A visitation of friends will precede the funeral service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., also at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

At the request of the family, they request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Mt. Hermon Fire & Rescue, 4268 Franklin Tpke., Danville, VA 24540.
