Saford Lee Hughes

Saford Lee Hughes, 83, of Blacksburg, VA died on Saturday, September 19, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s. Saford is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Linda, son Ricky (Missey), daughter Debby (David), two granddaughters, Megan (Brian) and Lindsey, and his 4-legged partner, Pepper. Anyone that knew Saford, knows he never wanted for anything. He was born, raised and died on Craig Creek, the land that he loved. After retiring from The Town of Blacksburg in 2005, he spent his days playing with his granddaughters, cutting wood, mowing, weed eating and sitting on the porch with the love of his life. A private family service will be held at the Holloway Cemetery with long-time friend, Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his dad and mom (Clyde and Mary).
