Dorothy Rose (Reid) Teague

Dorothy Rose (Reid) Teague, a cherished matriarch, devoted servant of her lord Jesus Christ, and a wellspring of warmth and wisdom, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 14, 1932, in Lexington, Virginia, Dorothy grew up with a resilient spirit and a heart full of grace. Throughout her life, she was a true anchor for those she loved. Dorothy had a special gift for nurturing, whether she was tending to her garden—watching life bloom under her careful, patient hands—or in the kitchen, where she was an amazing cook who filled her home with comforting aromas and delicious meals crafted with love. Dorothy built a life rich in deep connections and devotion. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Nanny and James Ford, and her forever love—her husband of over 50 years, Richard, with whom she is now joyfully reunited at the gates of heaven. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories, and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Diane Teague; grandchildren, Stephanie Collier (George) and Aaron Teague (Laura); niece, Doris; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Abigail, and Eloise; as well as countless extended family members whose lives were forever brightened by knowing her. Known for her gentle strength and giving spirit, Dorothy taught everyone she touched the true meaning of unconditional love and care. Just like the seeds she planted and the meals she shared, her warmth, laughter, and values will continue to grow and live on in the generations she shaped so lovingly. A graveside service to celebrate Dorothy’s return to heaven will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
