Bobbi Ann Quisenberry Hiltunen
Bobbi Ann Quisenberry Hiltunen, of Danville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida, after a recent decline in health. She was born in Danville on October 29, 1949, to the late Carrie Lee Davis Quisenberry and Elmer Lee Quisenberry. On December 30, 2006, she married the love of her life, Vesa Kaarlo Hiltunen, who survives.
Bobbi began working at Danville Community College in 1969 and remained there for more than 40 years, until her retirement. She served as an advisor to the Student Government Association (SGA) and was well known throughout campus, especially in the Taylor Building, where she was always ready to listen to students and offer advice.
Bobbi was a kind, generous soul who took joy in simple pleasures and loved animals with a passion. She loved sitting on her wraparound porch with her husband and friends, watching the wildlife around her. She especially enjoyed telling the story of a mother turkey tending to her babies and keeping them safe. She also loved watching a mother skunk and a mother fox, each with her babies. Immanuel Kant once said, “We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.” Bobbi lived with empathy and compassion for all living things.
Bobbi and Vesa also shared a love of travel. Together, they explored much of Europe, visiting Finland, where Vesa was born, as well as Pompeii in Italy and Santorini in Greece. Their travels also took them to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Each journey gave them new memories to share.
Bobbi loved her niece and nephew dearly and was known as a “cool” aunt.
In addition to her husband, Bobbi is survived by her brother, Jerry Lee Quisenberry (Connie); her nephew, Timothy Howard Quisenberry (Jessica); her niece, Lori Ann Quisenberry Hanks (Chris); and five great-nieces, Emma Hanks, Mollie Hanks, Carter Quisenberry, Tanner Quisenberry, and Parker Quisenberry.
She is also survived by her best friends, Sharon Fox, Shirley Cadmus, and Stacey Wright.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Danville Area Humane Society, 996 South Boston Road, Danville, VA 24540.
