Barbara Ann Jones

Barbara Ann Jones, age 73 of Ferrum, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 1, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Stafford and Esther Sink of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Barbara spent many years caring for others. She worked in hospitals and nursing homes before later becoming an in-home caregiver for the elderly. Caring for others was a meaningful part of her life, and she touched many lives through her kindness and compassion. Barbara was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Melissa Peters; her son, Bobby Peters; and her siblings, Judy Sink, infant Wanda Kay Sink, an unnamed infant sister, and infant brother Buddy Wayne Sink. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Jones; her son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Jennifer Peters; her brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Susan Sink; her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Robert Adkins; granddaughters Miranda Scrogins (Ben) and Cassidy Peters (Ryan); grandson Devin Peters; and great-granddaughter Sophie Scrogins. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved fur babies, Emma and Sweet Pea, who were cherished members of her family. Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout the years. A special thank you is extended to Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County for the compassionate and wonderful care given to Barbara and her family during her illness. An additional special thank you is extended to her great-nephew, Skyler Jones, for the wonderful care, love, and help he provided to Barbara during her final months. A graveside service will be conducted at Maple Grove Cemetery on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Roger Jones officiating.
