Eileen Mae Powell
Eileen Mae Morris Powell was born on October 26, 1933, in Selbyville, Delaware. Born to Laura Louise Long Morris and Oliver Booth Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anna Mary & Joshua Long and Anna Mary & Joshua Morris. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Louise (Bill) and Helen (Everett); and brother, Ollie Jr. (Helen); sister-in-law Pat Lutte (Don), and her grandchildren, Melisaa Ann Powell, Tiffany Marie Powell, and Matt Morris Powell. Finally, her niece, Barbara Suhulze (Norman); nephews, Gene Parker, Everett Long III (Nancy), and Timothy Lutte.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Floyd Powell and Matt Morris Powell; daughter-in-law, Peggy Sue Powell; grandchildren, Steven P. Powell, Jamie P. Danenhower (Tyler) and Madison E. Powell; great-grandchildren, Alyanah Powell, Gracie R. Danenhower; nieces, Tammy Averell (John) and Karen Justinson (Johnny) and their families. She also leaves behind a special friend, Brenda Wyatt and Deborah Powell.
Upon her high school graduation in 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, moved to South Dakota where her first son, Mike, was born. Then to Alaska where her second son, Matt, was born. She was also fortunate to enjoy living in Florida, Tennessee, and Germany. She settled in Virginia and retired from Globman’s and Sears. She enjoyed her life with Mike, Matt, Peggy and her grandchildren. She had many trips to the beach and to Disney World. She could honestly say she was the luckiest mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother in the world.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 20206, at 1:00 PM, Norris Funeral Service – Martinsville. The family will accept guests one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Make A Wish Foundation in Eileen’s honor.
