William "W.A." Archie Steed Sr.

William “W.A.” Archie Steed Sr., passed away at his residence on October 3, 2026. W.A. was born in Asheboro, NC on January 17, 1938 to the late Mae Owens Steed and the late Alexandra Patrick Steed.

W.A. was of the Baptist Faith, and attended Blairs Baptist Church. He worked as a supervisor for Norfolk Southern Railroad, for over 35 years, previous to his retirement.

W.A. is survived by two daughters; Sherry King (Donnie) and Tracy Parsons (John) both of Wake Forest, NC; a sister; Annette Hicks; four grandchildren; Alex (Emily), Ashley (Brandon), Christopher (Victoria), and Rachael (Max); and 11 great grandchildren; Addie, Remington, Aubree, Allissa, Daniel, Amber, Ethan, Kaleb, Amber, Tyler, Skyler and Austin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, W.A. was predeceased by two sons: William “Will” Archie Steed Jr. and Alan Steed; and a brother; James A. Steed.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Mt. Valley Hospice for all their help and support during this time.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 1:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA, with Pastor John Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
