Billy Wayne Reese
Billy Wayne Reese, 81, of Danville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at Piney Forest Health & Rehab in Danville.
Born September 16, 1945, Billy was the son of the late Hattie Shorter Reese and Jesse Reese. He spent his life in Danville, working for Goodyear Rubber & Tire as a mechanic, serving his country in the United States Army, and being a member of Immanuel Friends Church in Eden, North Carolina.
But those facts only tell a small part of who Billy Reese was.
Billy was, above all else, a family man and an extraordinary father. To his daughters, he was simply the best daddy they could have asked for. He was strong, smart, dependable, and seemingly able to fix anything. If something was broken, Billy could figure it out. He was the kind of man who knew how things worked, who worked with his hands, and who could be counted on when something needed to be done.
He was also one of the hardest-working people his family has ever known. Hard work wasn't something Billy talked about; it was simply how he lived. He showed his love in much the same way—by taking care of the people he loved, providing for them, helping them, fixing things, and being there when they needed him.
Those who knew Billy will remember his strength and intelligence, but his family will remember something even greater: the security of knowing he was there. He was a husband, a daddy, a grandfather, a brother, a friend, and the kind of man whose presence made his family feel that things would somehow be okay.
Billy is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Richardson Reese; his daughters, Sharon Reese Williams and husband Brian, and Monica Reese Migliore and husband Matthew, of Colorado; his sisters, Judy Richardson Jarvis and husband Joe, and Laura Ray Jane Richardson Keatts and husband Sam; his grandchildren, Justin Kennedy Williams and Layla Grace Williams; his best friend, "Pete" Gammon and wife Carolyn; his sister-in-law, Ruby Reese; and his brother-in-law, Carroll “Butch” Mays.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Joy Powell and Judy Wallace; and his brothers, William “Sonny” Reese and Wesley Reese.
A funeral service celebrating Billy's life will be held Monday, October 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services – West End Chapel in Danville, Virginia. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
Billy leaves behind a lifetime of things he built, repaired, provided, and cared for. But his greatest legacy is the family he loved and the daughters who will forever be proud to call him Daddy.
He was strong. He was capable. He worked hard. He took care of his family. And he was deeply loved
