Elder Debora Kay Deshazo

February 4, 1958 - October 7, 2026

Elder Debora Kay DeShazo, 68, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at SOVAH Health–Martinsville. She was born February 4, 1958, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Moncie DeShazo, Jr., and Edna Strawn DeShazo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Merrie DeShazo and her brother, Victor Tyrone DeShazo.

Debora retired as a supervisor at the Henry-Martinsville Department of Social Services after dedicating 22 years of service to the community. She was a former member of Mt. Sinai Apostle Church and the former Waller Memorial under the leadership of Bishop Raymond Gardner. She enjoyed listening to her favorite gospel song, “Let the Church Say Amen” by Marvin Winans.

Debora was very fashionable and loved dressing elegantly and making every outfit her own. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and had a special love for flowers, butterflies, elephants, crispy bacon, and coffee. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Nacoma DeShazo and Chance DeShazo; her sisters, Yvonne Ellison (Ronnie); Daryl DeShazo, Shawn Deshazo Bunch; her brother, Moncie DeShazo (Monica); her grandchildren, Kendrix DeShazo and Mireiya DeShazo; special friends, Richard and Sabrina Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. There will be a floating visitation on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel.
