Roy Lee Loope
Roy Lee Loope, 84, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026. He was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol Loope who passed in April2023; his parents, Robert and Doradean Loope; his brother, Larry Loope; and his sister, Lois Senick(Mike). Left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses, Kevin Loope (Connie), Sara Boucher(Brian), Teresa Hodges (Michael), and Lisa Taylor (Garry); his brother, Terry Loope (Barbara); hissister, Margaret Booze (Charles); his special friend, Rosalie Goad; and many other family andfriends who were blessed to know him. Roy was a true country gentleman whose life was defined by faith, family, hard work, and kindness. Born and raised on a farm in Buchanan, he spent his entire life connected to the land, caring forcattle and appreciating the view of the farm and the Peaks of Otter from his front porch. Roy was honored to have served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was immensely proud of his56-year career as a truck driver, often sharing that accomplishment with anyone willing to listen andnever quite understanding why he was asked to retire at age 82. His children often joked about thesize of his big, hardworking hands. Working from sunup to sundown for decades, those handsbelonged to a protector, a provider, and a man whose love was shown more through actions thanwords. Though Roy was known for his physical strength and tireless work ethic, those who knew himbest knew that his greatest strength was his gentle heart. Roy especially enjoyed old cars and loved attending car shows and cruising in his Ford Falcons. Affectionately known as "Pooh Bear" by his family, Roy never met a stranger and was always willingto lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He exemplified what it meant to be a Christian, living hisfaith daily through compassion, generosity, humility, and love for others. His family takes comfort inknowing that the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life welcomed him home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Spirit’s Rest Hospice House and to his brotherand sister-in-law, Terry and Barbara Loope, and to Rosalie Goad, whose love and faithful presenceremained a source of comfort and support to Roy until the very end.
