Vernie Hendrix Burdett

Vernie Ann Burdett, 88, of Roanoke, passed away, Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Ann was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She retired from the DMV after 32 years of service. Ann was also a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church.

Ann is survived by her husband of 44 years Charles Burdett; son who preceded her in death Keith Miller; daughter, Gloria Meadors and husband Larry; son, Robert Bishop and wife Regina; step-sons Jeff Burdett and wife Dixie, Gary Burdett and wife Stephanie; step-daughter, Lauri Vaught (Winston); as well as 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 12 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel with Pastor Greg Moser and Pastor Larry Meadors officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time. Interment will be held Monday, October 19, 2026 at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens at 10 am.
