Mrs. Merle Harris Byrd Byrd

Mrs. Merle Harris Byrd, age 97 of Fieldale, VA , passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Patrick County, VA on August 1, 1929 to Matt O. Harris and Mattie Ruth Wood Harris. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Roxie Bailey and Reba Pruitt, her brothers, Blaine Harris, Maynard Aubery Harris, William Ray Harris and John Wayne Harris. She was retired from Henry County Public Schools.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her daughter, Lisa B. Catron (Ricky), and son, Richard W. Byrd (Ann), two grandchildren, Tyler Blake Marshall (Alexis) and Brian Michael Byrd, step-granddaughter, Lisa C. Wooten and one great granddaughter, Emberly Marshall.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
